Tour Around Town

So, my dad is in town, and we were headed to Hiawatha Cyclery today for a wheelbuilding class. Since it isn't often that we get to bike around together, drink lots of coffee and eat good food, we tried to take advantage of our time to build some wheels and get some good food-related items. There were surprisingly few places open at 6ish this morning, but we eneded up finding one, and what a great spot it was.

A Bakers Wife is a bakery/pastry shop, that also has coffee/espresso. We ordered a couple gigantic cinnamon rolls and two muffins for later on. The cinnamon rolls were just made, still warm, and the frosting was almost a combination of frosting and butter. Simply amazing. Best cinnamon roll I have had. Period. We still had some time to kill before the wheelbuilding class, so we swung by Minnehaha Park. Got to love the fall colors. Plus, no one is really around at 6:30 in the morning.
Since we still wanted a bit of extra coffee, we stopped at Nokomis Beach Coffee Cafe. Nice coffee shop with a friendly staff and good coffee.

After finishing up an excellent wheelbuilding class at hiawatha cylery (thanks Jim), we were pretty hungry. We were headed over to the warehouse district in mpls, so we stopped at Five Guys in dinkytown for a couple quick burgers. We both got the bacon cheeseburger with jalapenos, green peppers, grilled onions, bbq-sauce and a few extra toppings. Five guys is sort of like a happy medium between fast food burgers and really good, sit down, high-quality burgers. They sure hit the spot after a bunch of biking.

We then swung by one-on-one bike and coffee shop over in mpls. Great coffee, great espresso, great bikes. All in all, a great day.

Maybe just the coolest one around
