Keys

So its been a few days since we have written anthing, and I just wanted to mention a good spot in the St.Anthony area for some great food, especially breakfast. This Keys (at University and Raymond) is the original, and compared to the other locations I have been to, this one just really has that small, hometown diner feeling that makes you feel part of a community when you go here to eat. It has that ambiance and character that is very appealing, and it is almost always fairly busy, so it definately has established a good customer base.
Fresh Morning Star Coffee

This was probably one of the few times that we didn't ordered a caramel roll, but if or when you go, definately order one. They are huge and delicious, and you'll be all smiles. I ordered a three cake stack of the bran pancakes, which we super dense and filling. If you like bran, then I would recommend them. Think of bran muffins, but in a slightly lighter, pancake form. If you haven't ever had a Keys pancake, just know, they are huge. I also ordered a side of the fresh itialian sausage, which has a little bit of spiciness and good flavor.
Really, these are like 2+ lbs of pancakes.

My fiance ordered the Loon Omlette (Two eggs with wild rice, mushrooms, onion, tomato, Swiss cheese, turkey, and a super delicious hot mushroom sauce on top). This is one of my favorite omlettes that they make. The mushroom sauce on top is exceptionly good.
Once again, they don't believe in portion control.

My sister ordered the three cake stack of buttermilk pancakes. This was humerous to watch, as she has an extremely small appetite. Lets just say I assissted in finishing them, and it was no small task.
One other thing that has been a very positive experience at Keys has been the wait staff. While almost every time that we have gone it has been quite busy, the staff is very friendly, and does there best to get you in as soon as possible. You almost get the feeling like you are at a huge family breakfast (in the good way), and it great to create those connections that you get with people after going to a restaurant enough where they start to recognize you. We strongly believe in supporting those businesses in our area that are along the light rail corridor and are having to deal with the construction process, and Key's on Raymond Ave is a great place to show your support.
